How much does Barcelona actually cost?

Barcelona is not cheap — but it's nowhere near as expensive as Paris or London for eating and transport. The biggest variable is accommodation: a private room in a hostel or budget hotel in the Gothic Quarter costs €35–60, while a mid-range hotel in Eixample runs €90–150, and a four-star property on Passeig de Gràcia can hit €250–350/night in summer.

Food is remarkably good value if you eat like a local. The menú del día — a set three-course lunch with wine available at almost every neighbourhood restaurant — typically costs €12–16 and is one of the great bargains in European dining. Skip the beachfront restaurants (overpriced tourist traps); walk one street back for dramatically better food at half the price.

Attractions add up fast: Sagrada Família starts at €26, Casa Batlló from €29, La Pedrera from €25, Park Güell €13. Planning which passes save money is key — use our pass calculator before you book.
